Hhehe i made the archive...ok...
I think a game engine BASED on a different race.
Like from the Klingons perspective or the romulan perspective...but MORE hsips based on that race..

i like the stry atm as there is alot freedom for the mulliplayer version this way

I think the best idea for the game is to add more stations and ship (in partycular for the empires playable by all the players).
It can be good if the AI ship or station can fire three weapons in the same times for making more specialised ship.
Now the deplacement and the stations.
To defend your planet you just have to place a station anywhere on the map it don't need to be smart so it is too easy.
So for the deplacement i think all the system need worholmes to go in the nearest system.
So if you want to go in New Switzerland by earth you must go by to alpha centauri before. And keep the days system for example there is Xdays passing when you make a travel by the worholmes.
But we can keep the antimater system but we must increase the price of it.
I think 1000lat for 1 tons of antimater.
We can increase the number and the type of weapons in the game and add more system.
We can too, increase the money you can earn by making an empire or making trade mission trade.

I have other ideas but its not very easy for me to explain it.(I am french and i love FTBM).
The weapons range system is very strange for me.
So I think it can be good to make a length system in AU (Arbitrary Unit) for example 10 AU = Range of a standar phaser.
It can be good to indicate when you select a ship the leght between you and this ship.
Now the weapons:
ALL THE PHASER HAVE THE SAME RANGE
In FTBM1 the plasma phaser is not very powerful so I think we can increase the range of it to offset.
Make laser can be good (not 360° phaser but between 0° or 5°)
Make healing weapons (fired by mantenance station) to heal a fleet.
Now other:
The ore station are not very useful between 5 or 10 deuranium per travel its very :
If there is whorholmes I think 1 ore station can produce between 50 and 80 deuranium per travel can be good.
Most of ships have 2 speed categorie:
Combat speed and warp speed.
It will be good if we can reduce the combat speed (impossible to aim a enemy ship with a teposian canon )
The system are composed by one planet but:
WHERE IS THE SUN OF THIS PLANET.
So now its good if the system can have 1 sun (center of coordinates) and 1, 2 or 3 planet .
A system havnt any more importance than an other system about the position in the quadrant.
When you are in a system you can see the ships in the same place: the planet.Its very static
So it can be good if some AI (enemy, neutral or allied) ship pass by a system.(come from a worholme ang go to an other worholme present i, the system to go in an other system)
So more there is whorholmes in a system more there is ship passing in the same system.

hes brang up a good point.
Ive always wondored why the planets are just one.
cause it would be alot more funnier. with earth, it should have, Mars And Jupiter or so ever..

Hey, i just had the idea if i made a fan-made trailer of BM5! Skembri y dont u just tell me what BM5 is about so ill use BM2 to make a trailer out of. i hope this is legal or somethin. besides i will advertise this forum in the trailer anyway

I think that you should try coding the game differently so that there might be less bugs. Also I like BM2 so you should make it like that but with more ships, a working editor that doesn't mess up the game when you use it, make all the weapons available for purchase at stations, more planets, make the thalaron generator launch torpedoes that leave explode into large clouds of thalaron radiation when they get close to their targets, I also like the torpedo and phaser spreads being adjustable but maybe once you set them they should stay that way until you change them, and please bring back the ubers they were so much fun.
