Star Trek Universe

on Mon May 24, 2010 7:21 pm
Heya,

I'm new and I've got an idea.

The idea is based on
Broken Mirror. There are 13 races a total of at least 11 ship-classes (escort, two destoyers and cruisers each,
frigate, warship, battlesship and -cruiser, dreadnought and an
'ultimative ship'), excluding freighter and shuttle. Of course also various stations.
I'm thinking here in the direction of BM (general system), SFC3 (campaigning etc) and Final War (battle-mode).
Eventual goal is
to get all planets, i.e. all other races under one hat. Either by
subduing them (Klingon, Borg, 8472) or by allying (Federation,
Civillians, Ferengi).

Since I lack the capability to code it, as
well as the powers to make proper art, I thought about asking here,
knowing that there's a great deal of such talent around (one just needs
to look at the games already in progress).

It was meant as a compliment. Wink

The game itself would be something like an hommage.

Okay, I think it's easiest to adress your question by stating the fractions first:
We have the Borg, Species 8472, Federation, Klingons, Ferengi, Dominion, Imperial Romulans (Donatras side) and Romulan Empire (Tal'Auras side), Civilians, Cardassians, Tholians, Breen and Terran Empire (Pirats also appear but are not playable). It plays shortly after Nemesis, but before the incident that lead to Spock travelling back into the past (accidentially) and taking Nero with him (also accidentially), thus creating a parallel timeline (you know the routine by now...)

The Story/stories differ from race to race. Species 8472 of course will try to destroy everything. Quite literally, because their special weapon is the Pruge which is the attack we saw on the Borg-planet. The Federation and others must force alliances to fight them off. Ferengi on the other hand have the campaign goal to get all systems (139 systems spread to the various fractions) to a trade-agreement. Klingons again have the ultimate goal to conquer all the galaxy, as do some others. And Federation and one or two others have the goal to unify them all under their rule.

Each fraction has their own ships (which are at times unlike the ships from BM) and each has their own kind of station. They all have their own weapons and each fraction has a unique 'ultimate ship' that is best suited for their race (Borg have the Realm Conqueror which is a more threatening ship than the Cubes, Ferengi have a super-freighter, the Terran Empire has a weapon that can decolonise a planet with a shot, based on the Doomsday-weapon from TOS) and also a superior technology (Federation reactivated Project Genesis, Breen use a weapon that kills a ships engines for a brief moment, sending them spinning).

Background story is that some moronic Federation scientist disregarded Starfleets order to not conduct his experiments due to extremem hazards. Because they didn't specify, the prof just thought them to be too fearful and did it anyway. He caused a spacial rift to open into a dimention where the Terran Empire was not overpowered by a Klingon-Cardassian-Alliance but actually destroyed them. Just like the mirror-verse departs from the prime-verse with Zefram shooting the Vulcan, this mirror-verse departs from the known mirror-verse by Spock not using his knowledge of the Federation to reform the Empire but he used it to quench every resistance in the beginning. With the rift, however, they found out about this other dimension where bad is good and good is bad. And they now think that one Earth is not enough to own...

urm ok....

i dont get ur story, im not a trekkie lol

so heres what im thinking story wise just a bit of an idea

ok so the federation public announce the demolishment of the mirror project (a project designed to explore the possibility of creating or entering parrelel universes) but secretly create an organisation called "Dark Sector" to continue the the research on an unofficial level, the project brings no decent results, until they stumble upon an ancient vessle in the vexxien nebula, they send teams to explore and research and after a year, they manage to access the bridge and the main computors, upon the hardrive they find intel of a wormhole in pirates haven that only opens once every third sun (basically meaning once every 3000 years) the last recorded one was 9000 years ago meaning that there wud be one soon and had been 2 un recorded ones, the organisation launched 30 ships to set up and preserver the wormhole, but in doing so they caused a chain reaction allowing through an army f like borg or sumin

they destroyed the wormhole before more could come but there was already enough through...

the begining of the end is upon them ana are awaiting a victor to change the tide of war and change the galaxy for ever, either scaring it or healing it.

Well, we've got Borg already there, so instead of Borg, only a bunch of Terran Empire ships would spill through. But I've set up a few systems for these Terran Empire-dudes, Also, there will be no sector called Pirate Haven.
The Pirates will have one small system without planets but some stations. They refer to it -of course as Tortuga- and it is generally known as Ruah, a lifeless system with a dead star and a nebula around it. Perfect hiding place.

Uh, ST Ultimate will not use the BM systems-layout nor its map.
It's completely different in these regards. After all, we have 139 systems (140 if you include Tortuga/Ruah).
There's no Vex, no Hof-Maso, no Konael, no Oce-Nu, etc...

Sorta, I've got a map of the whole Federation space. I'll use that as a general direction.

Do you think it would be a good idea to add a faction called Section 31 ? (Unknown to all species, similar ships to the federation, but far more powerful). For info. on S-31, check ST : DS9. (At the same time, add an extremely powerful ship under Section 31 (Excalibur Class), make it so that it can't appear as an NPC ship, and add a mission to aquire it?).

About Species 8472, try to add a station know by "Fluidic Gate" in the center of their space.
About the Klingons, they're allied with the Federation and their goal is to crush the Cardassians, the Dominion (whats left of them), the Borg, the Breen, and Species 8472. (That's a lot of enemies!)

P.S. I'm new here, so take it easy on the insults. I welcome critizism. Smile

Right now we have enought playable races, so if at all, as NPCs. But generally I'm not certain. I never enjoyed the idea of S31.

As per 8472, the base idea is that they arrive here from Sefalla Prime, some Delta-Quadrant planet, where the Gate is. It will be there, but just not seen often, and not even in the 8472 campaign.

Every race has their own goals. they ll have their arch-enemies, similar to Armada 2. Spoonheads vs. Feds and Klings, Klings against Spoonheads and Rommies, etc.

I have also edited in a completely new group that will be unlocked to play once the player completed the gameon at least 3 other races. But they will remain a secret for now.

However, I am now at the end of my abilities, I'd need programmers as I am not good enough. So unless I find programmers willing to help, the game's not going anywhere....

I wish I could help, but my programming skills are shakey at best. I don't even know how to create a simple flash movie. Neutral

Aresius, what would you say to adding a torpedo limit, making the game feel more into Star Trek.

For example, the maximum limit for Photon Torpedoes on a Saber Class would be 80 Torpedoes.
and the maximum limit for Quantum Torpedoes on a Saber Class would be 20 Torpedoes.

And what about allowing phasers to fire consecutively, but then adding a recharge time (2 seconds for the Type X Phaser)
And each ship has it's own special ability (Ex. Defiant = Cloak, Sovereign = Corbomite Reflector), but some don't (Saber = N/A). But of course the abilities are purchasable. But give them a fourth slot. (Ex. 1. Type X Phaser, 2. Photon Torpedo, 3. Pulse Phaser Turret, 4. Chain Reactor Pulse)

What do you say?
