Offering my services
Thu Feb 10, 2011 12:05 pm
Hello, I'm new around here. I signed up to the other broken mirror forum (the one where if a newbie asks a questions longtime members go )
I have a ton of free time, hours upon hours upon hours of it, but I have no experience coding anything. I'd like to offer my services to help make the flashtrek games better.

here we go again.
Uh, nice to see you too
I'm Teddy.
I'm thinking that you probably suspect I'm some idiot, so to "prove" I am not, I provide this link to a "program" I've built.
http://www.ridingbyriding.ca/2010/10/10/457
I do have a mind for this stuff, I've just never done it before. I'd have no clue where to start. I'm wondering if I open a flash file in notepad and start hitting keys. That then leads to problem #2: I don't know what any key combo does (IE I dont know how to code) etc etc.
What I do have right now is time. I am the kind of person who gets addicted to something for a short period and then goes all out on it. In the past 3 days I've played a total of 30 hours of flash trek (in it's various forms) I can use that time to do something productive and useful.
Looking at the file that I've sent as an example, you can see that there are many parts to it. The entire file relies on base data. The calculations are done from the base data, and then, produce a result. Getting the base data from a book or a website into an excel file is what I call "gruntwork" Any idiot can do it.
I'm applying to do any "gruntwork" that's been sitting around. Boring stuff that you don't want to look at because it's so boring. If anyone has any flash trek related gruntwork, please, throw it at me.
As mentioned, I have a way of going all out, but for a short period of time. This offer will probably only be good for a month, perhaps two, depending on what happens.

Don't worry EP's all ways an Ass. Anyways the way most of these game are made, is that, usually a single guy make the game, while many people try and help some how, but a Creative Collative doesn't appeal to them, so they usually work alone. or something like that.

Anyways, I've found out that there are OTHER top-down space/trading/rpg sims whatever etc, so I'm thinking if I ever get into this that I'd start my own entire sim lol.
