Server Help

So i play this online game, its still in the Alpha Stages, its called minecraft, i was thinking of hosting my own server, and another person who has a server says that even my crappy 2000 can run it, now my father is very strict on this kionda stuff and i am probibly not gonna tell him if i do make a server.

Before i do.

What are the risks, how can he find out, and can my computer be perminetly damaged from this.

Basically i want to know is, if he looks at our network, will he see the server thing on my computer.

How can i hide it so he cant.

Note: My father used to work in computers, so keep that in mind when responding.

well from what i know about the specs of your pc i doubt it can handle it and you have to leave it on if you want to run the server 24/7 so the power consumption might be noticeable but if you dont leave it on then there probably no way he'd find out

I leave it on 24/7 anyway (My computer)

And i tried with help from DW's forum, and it diddnt work.

So yeah.

Everytime i tried to get on from another computer it would like reset the server to defults (3 connections, 16 players) and i cant connect from my own computer, so yeah.

Anyway, it diddnt work, i really just wanted it so that i could play it when the reddit.com server was down.

oh well does that happpen a lot ? i would say play single player but you dont have the alpha

UGH, i hate singal player, lol....i cant use /cuboid.......

(That creates a large wall of anything, any width and any hight in a few seconds)

and i am an operator........(Equivilent of moderator)

so i cant just leave, i am also on the verge of getting full time admin

so i cant just leave the server, it would be like me leaving this site and never comeing back, EVER.....lol

yeah the server goes down alot, but thats because notch keeps changing it making F-Craft not work.......

I am thinking of making a server that can only hold 4 people.....small, and private, i might post a link here, for people.......if it works..........if it does i will increase the max people untill it cant hold it anymore, and leave it just below that.

And yeah i know, its F-Craft, it goes down alot, laving most of the time only 400 servers up instead of the usual 1,000

yeh ive seen some stuff of classic like i know you dont have tools or anything like that i would let you use my account but if i gave you the password you would get all my accounts
