star trek armada sprite

on Tue Jul 20, 2010 5:06 pm
I got a couple of questions. I managed to get a "SPECIAL" version of star trek armada II . It dosent work, but im not in it for the game I was intrested in the sound effects and ship strites. The sounds were easy to get but the sprite files are the problem. I cant get them open the extensions are (.SPR) files. I have google scerched for days and have found nothing. I was hoping since (most of)you guys work with sprites you guys could help. I downloaded gimp but it dosent reconize the file types.

they appear to 2d because when armada came out 3 directional game play wasn't possible, now it is.

Being a 3d apprentice, I can say for a fact that there are no such thing as a 3d sprite, only 3d models. If you want them, you will need a 3d program (preferably 3ds Max version 5) and a special plugin to import them into your work station and then apply the right textures.

Im not sure if you can use GMax to do it, but if you can, then by all means.

And Vedic, I believe 3d gameplay actually was available because the game Homeworld was released before Star Trek Armada. Activision was just being cheap and didnt want to use 3d gameplay Very Happy
