tthomasosguide to broken mirror

Post by Hellblazer on Tue Nov 17, 2009 5:11 pm

This will take several posts, if I had Richardson's one lying about I'd post his too but alas I don't.
I still need to update it concerning the end ship and variuos other things, but it has most of the basics, so no complaining!
Also, all the pictures got wiped due to the loss of fossan.

Ships in Broken Mirror:
The following is a total list of all normal ships in Broken Mirror. They are listed in their empire groups from cheapest to most expensive and where the price is the same the ship I consider to be better is closer to the expensive end of the scale.
The empire list is ordered as so:
-Civilian Ships
-Earth Empire
-Klingon Empire
-Romulan Star Empire
-Cardassian Order
-Vulcan Command
-Ferengi Alliance (err…sometime soon)
-Delpin
-Dominion
-Tholian Syndicate
-Bajoran
-Lysian
-Other
The explanation below shows you what each of the stats means.

NAME Class: (This is just the name of the type of ship)
(All the systems and the stations within where you can buy this ship)
Description: (The in-game description)
Hull: (The hull points of this ship)
Shields: (The shields points of this ship, on the same scale as hull)
Propulsion: TYPE OF Drive (Usually Warp, if it is Impulse then ships cannot warp while in a system)
Mass: XXX tons (How much the ships weighs in 1G, usually bigger for the size of the ship)
Cargo Capacity: XXX tons (How many tons of cargo this ship can hold at any one time)
Turns per 5 seconds: (How fast the ship rotates, 1.5 is average)
Antimatter Storage: XX units, enough for XXX days of travel at minimum efficiency. (How many units the ship can hold total and the days this will last, the smaller the units and bigger the days the better a ship is. Also, the number of days is for trips across the whole of the galaxy, short trips will prove more efficient and get you further than stated in-game)
Base Price: XX,XXX Latinum (Cost of ship, however it varies from this with market changes, if you have to pay more than this you are getting ripped off, if lower you are getting a bargain.)
Combat Rating: RATING (The scan’s combat rating, however it is only accurate for low to medium strength ships, all medium to high strength ships are listed as deadly. This rating can still sometimes be inaccurate)
Comes with: (The weapons this ship comes with when you buy, it will overwrite all your weapons)
Recharge for BEAM: X seconds (How long it takes a races primary beam weapon to recharge as a guide to beam recharge time for most ships, for civilian ships the Type X Phaser has been used)
Recharge for TORPEDO: X seconds (How long it takes a races primary torpedo to recharge, some species will have a better torpedo which is often more destructive and faster to re-load, for civilian ships the Photon Torpedo has been used)
Other note: The weapons for small scouts and Birds of Prey may have disrupter ratings since those small ships cannot equip much else and come armed with them to start.
Special Notes: NOTES (Notes on the ship to help you, what it is good for and if it’s even worth buying)
TOP TIPS WHEN BUYING SHIPS:
Just before you make that purchase of that heavenly looking ship consider this first.
1) A quick note, try not to buy vastly lower priced ships then yours, the trade will mean it’s free but you will be cheated out of much of your cash in the long-term, always try and buy bigger and better.
2) A second quick note, remember that when you buy for yourself your old ship will be traded in. Mouse over and check how much it will actually cost you. This way you can buy ships earlier and still have cash to spare. But remember when buying for your fleet it will always be full cost.
3) Right to begin, before you even consider buying, make sure you still have some extra Latinum to hand for weapons, antimatter and personal cargo. At the very least have 1,500 to spare.
4) Now, will it actually do you any good? If you’re trading look for a vessel with good cargo. It you’re fighting then look for one with good fighting stats. There is no point in buying a cool looking ship that you will have to sell soon after since it’s no good to you.
5) Check the prices against the base prices, even if they’re roughly even just warping out and back in the system will get you new ones, try and get a good deal. Don’t buy if it’s overpriced and also remember that all ships in the system will be the same amount over or under priced.
6) So you’re ready to buy, before you do sell all your antimatter and weapons, these will be towed to the dump with your old ship so why not make a small profit from them first?
7) Ok, you’ve bought your beauty. Give it a little fly about and get used to it.
Cool Now if you’ve bought a warship you might want to buy a weapon or two for it. Remember very small ships cannot equip some weapons.

Special Notes: This ship has some agility in it, however none of its stats stand out, it simply has nowhere to focus it’s effort and is overpriced. Avoid buying.
PICTURE AS YET NOT FOUND

Mozart Class:
Description: A civilian explorer with good cargo room and long range.
Hull: 100
Shields: 250
Propulsion: Warp Drive
Mass: 4500 tons

Aries Class:
Description: A good overall vessel, well rounded for he average buyer.
Hull: 100
Shields: 100
Propulsion: Warp Drive

PICTURE OUTDATED
Nebula Class:
Description: An enormous cargo vessel, but slow and uses lots of antimatter.
Hull: 150
Shields: 100
Propulsion: Warp Drive
Mass: 7500 tons
Cargo Capacity: 900 tons
Turns per 5 seconds: 0.5

Base Price: 17,000 Latinum
Combat Rating: Fair
Comes with: Type X Phaser, Photon torpedo.
Recharge for Type X Phaser: 1 second
Recharge for Photon Torpedo: 2 seconds
Special Notes: Quite simply all the systems on this thing have been taken out for cargo space. Hull armor has been vastly reduced. But it has lots firepower. So if you meet small pirates take them out, otherwise warp away, your hull will fail surprising quickly. But be warned it’s slow to turn and eats up antimatter.
New Orleans Class:
Description: This former Earth Warship has been retrofitted for civilian use.
Hull: 200
Shields: 250
Propulsion: Warp Drive
Mass: 4500 tons

Base Price: 17,000 Latinum
Combat Rating:
Comes with: Type X Phaser, Photon torpedo.
Recharge for Type X Phaser: 2 seconds
Recharge for Photon Torpedo: 5 seconds
Special Notes: A cool looking ship. Packs some firepower with it and is quite agile. A good ship for head on medium level fighting. Bit of an antimatter hog though.
Tamarian Cruiser Class:
Description: A perfect balance between commerce and welfare, but these ships are not aging well.
Hull: 250
Shields: 350
Propulsion: Warp Drive
Mass: 4500 tons

Base Price: 17,000 Latinum
Combat Rating: Deadly
Comes with: Polaron Phaser, Photon Torpedo.
Recharge for Type X Phaser: 2 seconds
Recharge for Photon Torpedo: 5 seconds
Special Notes: This is indeed a good balance between trade and attack. Highly recommended, though, as the description says, you’ll have to go round in the worst looking ship I’ve ever seen.
Steamrunner Class:
Description: A small cruiser with excellent torpedo capability.
Hull: 250
Shields: 250
Propulsion: Warp Drive
Mass: 6000 tons
Cargo Capacity: 200 tons

Base Price: 18,000 Latinum
Combat Rating: Deadly
Comes with: Type X Phaser, Photon torpedoes X2.
Recharge for Type X Phaser: 1 second
Recharge for Photon Torpedo: 3 seconds
Special Notes: You get a 2nd load of photon torpedoes in this, very nice but if you want to stay in it sell those and replace with Quantum’s. It has some decent maneuverability but don’t go head to head. You’ll be punished. Use for long-range assaults instead.
Deforest Class:
Description: The ship has good cargo, fast speed, and a strong weapons platform.
Hull: 100
Shields: 125
Propulsion: Warp Drive

Combat Rating: Decent
Comes with: Type X Phaser.
Recharge for Type X Phaser: 3 seconds
Recharge for Photon Torpedo: 7 seconds
Special Notes: Unfortunately the description overrates the ship somewhat. It has decent speed and good cargo but lacks in weapons and defense. It is good as an armed trader though.
PICTURE AS YET NOT FOUND
Kingston Class:
Description: The dual-hull ship has good cargo and long-range capability but poor sublight maneuverability.
Hull: 80
Shields: 200
Propulsion: Warp Drive
Mass: 4500 tons

Turns per 5 seconds: 1.25
Antimatter Storage: 19 units, enough for 304 days of travel at minimum efficiency.
Base Price: 19,000 Latinum
Combat Rating: Fair
Comes with: Type VII Phasers.
Recharge for Type X Phaser: 2 seconds
Recharge for Photon Torpedo: 5 seconds
Special Notes: Not actually that slow turning but jus enough to annoy you at times. While it won’t last too long in a firefight the cargo space is worth it.
Centaur Class:
Description: Retired Imperial planetary defenders, obsolete by today’s standards and ready for civilian purchase.
Hull: 100
Shields: 200

Antimatter Storage: 75 units, enough for 300 days of travel at minimum efficiency.
Base Price: 21,000 Latinum
Combat Rating: Fair
Comes with: Type X Phaser, Photon torpedoes.
Recharge for Type X Phaser: 2 seconds
Recharge for Photon Torpedo: 5 seconds
Special Notes: Simply won’t get you anywhere, the old technology on this makes it too costly and impractical for use.
PICTURE AS YET NOT FOUND
Vega Class:
Description: Essentially a warship, this is as strong as they get on the civilian market.
Hull: 250
Shields: 300
Propulsion: Warp Drive
Mass: 6000 tons
Cargo Capacity: 40 tons
Turns per 5 seconds: 2
Antimatter Storage: 67 units, enough for 402 days of travel at minimum efficiency.
Base Price: 21,500 Latinum
Combat Rating: Deadly
Comes with: Dual Pulse Phasers, Photon torpedoes.
Recharge for Type X Phaser: 2 seconds
Recharge for Photon Torpedo: 4 seconds
Special Notes: It may be tiny but it’s a terror, using most of its hull for weapons and some armor this can be a real fighter.
Ambassador Class:
Description: Although retired from imperial duty, this ship is quite superior to most others on the civilian market.
Hull: 300
Shields: 300
Propulsion: Warp Drive
Mass: 6000 tons

Combat Rating: Deadly
Comes with: Type X Phaser, Photon torpedoes.
Recharge for Type X Phaser: 1 second
Recharge for Photon Torpedo: 3 seconds
Special Notes: Boasting a bit of extra agility, efficiency and quite impressive firepower this ship will take you far, no wonder it deserved the name Enterprise.
PICTURE AS YET NOT FOUND
Olympic Class:
Description: Primarily a support vessel, these ships rarely see combat.
Hull: 350
Shields: 250
Propulsion: Warp Drive
Mass: 4500 tons
Cargo Capacity: 650 tons
Turns per 5 seconds: 1.625
Antimatter Storage: 25 units, enough for 300 days of travel at minimum efficiency.
Base Price: 24,500 Latinum
Combat Rating: Deadly
Comes with: Type X Phaser.
Recharge for Type X Phaser: 2 seconds
Recharge for Photon Torpedo: 5 seconds
Special Notes: Quite a good all round ship. Has fighting ability but can still bring you good income. Recommended.
Tarellian Cruiser Class:
Description: This alien ship uses a quantum flux drive that requires no antimatter. It also cloaks.
Hull: 350
Shields: 200
Propulsion: Warp Drive
Mass: 4500 tons
Cargo Capacity: 800 tons
Turns per 5 seconds: 1.75
Antimatter Storage: 10 units, enough for unlimited days of travel.
Base Price: 54,500 Latinum
Combat Rating:
Comes with: Particle beam, Photon Torpedo, Cloaking Device.
Recharge for Type X Phaser: 2 seconds
Recharge for Photon Torpedo: 5 seconds
Special Notes: Personally I love this ship. Comes with a nice armament and a drive that needs no antimatter. A huge cargo space to go with it as well but can defend itself unlike the Nebula. I think this is the best non-military ship in the game and I’m sure you’ll agree.
Intrepid Class:
Description: Fast and sleek, this ship is somewhat weak but will take you far.
Hull: 200
Shields: 400
Propulsion: Warp Drive
Mass: 3000 tons
Cargo Capacity: 200 tons
Turns per 5 seconds: 2.25
Antimatter Storage: 13 units, enough for 208 days of travel at minimum efficiency.
Base Price: 75,000 Latinum
Combat Rating: Deadly
Comes with: Type X Phaser, Photon torpedoes.
Recharge for Type X Phaser: 3 seconds
Recharge for Photon Torpedo: 7 seconds
Special Notes: This ship is insanely fast and agile, however the advanced warp drive makes it VERY expensive. However don’t count it out, it has a good range to it and with this speed loading up some torpedoes and simply running very large circles around your enemies can work, but with the reload time it could take you a while. However this ship is guaranteed to get you anywhere in record time.

Base Price: 4,000 Latinum
Combat Rating: Harmless
Comes with: Disrupter Canon
Recharge for Disrupter Canon: 1 second
Special Notes: This ship cannot fit many weapons (which is why only the canon was measured), and is easily killed. It however comes with a decent starting cargo and you should focus on this and move up to another ship as soon as possible
[image]
PICTURE OUTDATED

Special Notes: This truly is a monster of a ship. Able to withstand virtually anything, that’s if the target is actually able to get a shot off first. Once you get this begin a rampage! The only problem is that it handles really, really badly. A good tactic is to cloak, come up behind your target, de-cloak and mash them into nothing.

Weapons guide:
The following lists the weapon in Broken Mirror and some information about them.
NAME: (Name of the weapon)
Type: (Beam, Torpedo, Disrupter/Pulse, Special or Passive)
(Beam weapons fire directly between ships and can never miss, Torpedoes launch from ships and track a target, and they do more damage then most weapons. Disrupters and Pulse weapons are fast firing and fast moving energy bolts that don’t track a target since they move so fast. Special weapons will get their own explanation and are usually wave emitters. Passive weapons cannot be used against an enemy but will raise your combat effectiveness. They won’t have to be loaded into a weapon slot to be used)
Description: (The in game description of the weapon)
Base Price: XXXX Latinum (The base cost of the weapon)
Notes: (Notes on the weapon)

Phaser Cannon:
Type: Pulse
Description: The human response the successful cannon, small and weak but rapid firing.
Base Price: 1,300 Latinum
Notes: Fires a very tiny and very slow bolt, you can get a maximum impulse and you will be going at the same speed. Get a proper disrupter.
Type VII Phaser:
Type: Pulse
Description: Fires a rapid succession of small phaser blasts.
Base Price: 1,500 Latinum
Notes: While it is a phaser this weapon fires like a pulse weapon, the phaser stats and stops firing so fast that you get a blot of energy fired. It can however fire in any direction.
Disrupter Canon:
Type: Disrupter
Description: A single forward firing disrupter, good for a small ship.
Base Price: 1,500 Latinum
Notes: Fires one green bolt at targets
Quantum Pulse Cannon:
Type: Pulse
Description: Developed by the Teposians, this s the most powerful cannon of its size.
Base Price: 2,000 Latinum
Notes: This fires a single bolt of energy at targets. It isn’t very powerful but can fit on some smaller ships.
Photon Torpedo:
Type: Torpedo
Description: A simple torpedo design using a matter/antimatter explosive device, low yield and slow reload.

Type X Phaser:
Type: Beam
Description: A standard, common beam phaser design that channels energy from the warp core.
Base Price: 3,000 Latinum
Notes: This weapon is better on bigger ships, the better the ship the more damage this weapon will do. So in a Danube Runabout you will do little damage, however in a Galaxy class you will blow holes in peoples hulls.
Tractor Beam:
Type: Special
Description: Locks onto a target and holds it there
Base Price: 3,400 Latinum
Notes: You must load this weapon into a slot. When you fire a beam will be emitted and a ship will be held still. You can fire multiple beams at once, switch targets and fire again; the beam will fail after a certain period of time.
Plasma Phaser:
Type: Beam
Description: A concentrated beam of Plasma, this weapon has low yield but a quick recharge at close range.
Base Price: 3,800 Latinum
Notes: A good phaser design.
Bajoran Sail:
Type: Passive
Description: This sail gathers antimatter particles from space.
Base Price: 5,000 Latinum
Notes: Ok, so it won’t help you kill anything, but can be a lifesaver and a money saver too.
Engine Disrupter:
Type: Special
Description: Emitting this pulse that will neutralize the engines of all ships around you. Good for escaping superior foe.
Base Price: 5,000 Latinum
Notes: This will emit a wave from your ship and any ships caught within it will freeze in position for a period of time.
Polaron Phaser:
Type: Beam
Description: Designed by the Klingon, this heavy dual phaser is use throughout the galaxy.
Base Price: 5,000 Latinum
Notes: Probably the best phaser you can buy, it will fire two beams at once and will do a lot of damage.
Polaron Torpedo:
Type: Torpedo
Description: A torpedo that utilizes a polarized explosive device.
Base Price: 5,300 Latinum
Notes: Not the best you can get torpedo wise, but still a good choice.
Quantum Torpedo:
Type: Torpedo
Description: A high yield torpedo with quantum singularity explosive charge.
Base Price: 6,700 Latinum
Notes: A much better choice than the Photon Torpedo.
Dual Pulse Phasers:
Type: Pulse
Description: Concentrated pulses of normal phasers, this weapon is perfect for small fighters and warships.
Base Price: 7,500 Latinum
Notes: Forward firing Dual weapon. You can also get the Pulse Turret, which is the same weapon but can fire in any direction.
Disrupter Turret:
Type: Disrupter

Base Price: 9,000 Latinum
Notes:
Warp Core:
Type: Passive
Description: The addition of this secondary warp core will double the power output of your ship.
Base Price: 12,000 Latinum
Notes: Does exactly what it says on the tin. This will simply give you twice as much power meaning you can stay in firefights for twice as long before your energy runs out.
Transphasic Torpedo:
Type: Torpedo
Description: Torpedo mega-weapons with a painfully slow recharge.
Base Price: 12,500 Latinum
Notes: Truly destructive. This can take out lower ships in 1-2 shots. It may take a while to reload but this is well worth it. Highly recommended.
Cloaking Device:
Type: Special
Description: This device will render you ship invisible but consumes a lot of energy.
Base Price: 13,500 Latinum
Notes: An excellent weapon, you can hide from your enemies and spring a surprise attack and hide if you are under heavy fire. This takes some energy, but if you boost power to your reserves to full you can hide for an unlimited amount of time, as your reserves will charge up as fast as the cloak uses them. It takes time to charge and prep the device after de-cloaking and cloaking to be able to use it again.
Thaleron Generator:
Type: Special
Description: Generators a cloud of Thaleron radiation, highly illegal to use.
Base Price: 15,500 Latinum
Notes: This will generator a cloud over the center of your ship. You should move out the way after firing it. It has a very slow recharge. It is highly recommended that you buy the ‘Thaleron Test Facility’ pass from the Nausica system on the Nausica Orbital Bar costing 90,000 Latinum so when you use the Thaleron weapon you don’t suffer a loss in prestige for it.
Cutting Beam:
Type: Beam
Description: An alien beam weapon, that can cut through ships like a hot knife through butter.
Base Price: 30,000 Latinum
Notes: The ultimate beam weapon, it will kill ships just like that.

Note: The Particle Beam may only be for sale at Blender, however I’ve yet to check this. You can however find the Plasma torpedo in the Romulan starbase if you build one for your empire.
-Races:
You can get to be two other special races in Broken Mirror. You can also be elevated to a higher position in two of the races you can already play. To start with let’s show you how to select these races from the race selection menu.
When you press tab in any flash program it’ll bring a yellow box up around any buttons, press it again to cycle through the buttons. As you do you will notice 4 boxes appear off the menu. These buttons are the extra races. They are
1) Earth Empire: Starting as a Dreadnought class with maximum resources and prestige in all systems.
2) Borg Collective: Playing as a cube. You are on your own and everybody hates you.
3) Dominion: You start in a bug ship; you must take over the universe again after having been almost wiped out by the Earth Empire (Original Flashtrek reference). Everybody hates you.
4) Cardassian Gul: You play as the normal Cardassian race but start in a Galor class.
The picture below shows the locations of these hidden buttons. To access this race tab until you highlight the box with your race, now zoom in on that area (right click and ‘zoom in’). You have a mouse pointer now, move it about the area until it turns into a hand. Shift+Click now. Zoom back out (right click and either ‘show all’ or ‘zoom out’)
You race description should now show in the box, to check click engage and check the ship. You can also just click around with the mouse without zooming in, but sometimes zooming in makes things easier.
Click here to show the Hidden Races
Please note that the Dreadnought is only in the Beta Version which is slightly different to the full version, this Beta may be removed with notice.

On a side note, be warned, pirates are often in the system and will destroy the station since it is already disabled. If you want to buy the ship, warp in, buy it straight away and warp somewhere else so the pirates don’t get a chance to attack the station (which cannot be rebuilt)

Once you do you can wipe out whole fleets with ease, be warned that it will have to charge every time you enter a system so you will want to cloak first as you enter it. Also, you can use it on stations, get cloaked, fly right on top of the station, de-cloak and activate the weapon. Now move off the station and fire your disrupter while you wait for you cloak to recharge, when it does just cloak where you are. Nobody can see you and you can watch the cloud eat away as its target.

Cargo Capacity: 1000 tons
Turns per 5 seconds: 0.2
Antimatter Storage: 15 units, enough for 600 days of travel at minimum efficiency.
Base Price: Estimated at 1,000,000 Latinum
Combat Rating: Special-Decemative
Comes with: Cutting Beam, Plasma Torpedo.
Recharge rates: Unlimited
Special Notes: This is a super vessel, probably the most well known of all enemies. You start with maximum resources and 50 units of antimatter (1400 days). Everybody hates you, your mission, to take over the Alpha quadrant. Assimilate until your work is done. The only problems that race you vessel are that it’s extreme slow and has a bad turning speed. Journeys under 60 days won’t cost you any antimatter. I would say good luck but being Borg I guess it would be better to say RESISTANCE IS FUTILE!
Note: You can refer to the Dominion and Cardassian ships stats in the normal ship list.

-The Dyson Sphere:
Another Easter egg for you all, go to the Bajora system and warp North-West from the planet, a purple dot will appear on your sensors. Go to it. You will discover it is a wormhole, get close to it and it will open. If you transport you’ll get a funny message. Anyway if you click on the open wormhole you will enter it, but only if you have 200+ navigational experience. Once you have 200+ experience try going in. You will find yourself in the Dyson system. The planet is abandoned. Try going to the building to the left of the planet. It’s a Dyson sphere! It’s huge; you can hail it and buy a sphere construction plan, a wormhole generator or a cutting beam. The sphere will cost 9,000,000 and the generator and beam 30,000. To leave the system you must use another wormhole. Either go to the purple dot on your scanner which is another wormhole leading back to Bajora, or go to the building to the East and a little to the north of the planet which is a Wormhole generator. Double click to enter it and you will be sent to the Vex system. Be warned there are pirates in the Dyson system and they may try to attack you, if you need protection the sit on top of the sphere and let it kill the pirates.

-Pirates Haven
Go to the Kardon system, you will need 100 navigational points first to be able to enter the Nebula, there's a wormhole generator there leading to a system called Pirate's Haven. Fly North-East of the planet. You will see the wormhole generator. Double-click it to use it. You will enter the system, it is controlled by pirates who will attack you, so make sure you are in a strong hulled vessel. There's a wormhole generator leading back to Kardon just a little bit North-East of the planet. You will not want to destroy the Wormhole Generator, as that is the only way out. There’s not really that much else to do there, but it’s funny watching the pirates all blow each other into nothing.

Cheats:
There are several cheats for the game. To enter them press F8, this will bring up a box, enter the cheat into the box and press the button. It may take several seconds fort he cheat to register. Bringing up your ship control panel should do it. Also note you will have to wait several seconds before entering another cheat.
Imgood -Sets, your prestige in a system to 100%
Imbad -Sets your prestige in a system to –100%
Urmine –turns the current system into par of your empire
Maxlat –gives you 999,999 Latinum (rather, it sets your Latinum to this. It doesn’t add it to your account)
Maxdur –gives you 999,999 units of Deuranium
Allknowing –sets your Navigational, Tactical, Engineering and Away Team experience to 1000. It will not affect your trading or negotiation experience. Remember that the building experience doesn’t matter and wasn’t used in the game.

*The antimatter amounts were so high for these ships they came without day ratings; the figures are calculated from the 101-day trip from Erasariel to Nausica and it’s antimatter usage.
